Special Cards

The Special Cards are so called because they are just that, special. They do not appear in the Futera Platinum Red Dwarf Trading Card Checklists, they do not appear on the Grant Naylor Productions Red Dwarf website, they barely appear online at all actually. They are little known, hard to find, and all together... well... special.

The silver and gold cards may be all shiny and precious and have corresponding embossed leather albums and even parallel card base sets... but there are few cards that can beat the rarity and obscurity of the Dealer Card (DC1). Limited to only 50 in number- and even those never actually released for sale to the public- the Dealer Card is the third rarest Red Dwarf card in the Futera Collection, after the alt MEM10 Lucky Dip cards "Red Dwarf Ship Piece" (4 created) and "Mr Flibble" (1 created).
The text on the back of the card reveals that the Dealer Cards were given as a gift directly from Futera to 50 of their dealers, as a thank you for supporting them and selling their cards from the beginning. Owning this card is, therefore, bittersweet. It means one of the dealers decided to, for whatever reason, sell on what was once a personal gift. Why was this card sold on, and who did it originally belong to? We will never know, as these cards were not individually numbered- possibly to avoid the appearance of dealer favouritism (I got number 47... 47! I am worth at least a 23!), or maybe to give the dealers the choice to sell them on guilt-free, without the possibility of their card being identified and traced back to them!
This particular Dealer Card is somewhat easier to track though, as it has been autographed by Doug Naylor, Craig Charles, and Chris Barrie. I honestly never imagined I would own one of these cards starting out with this collection... but here we are. Maybe... just maybe... there is hope I'll track down those rarer cards after all! Gold Starbug, HERE I COME!!!
The XL Centrepiece Card was very rare, limited to 250 in total. The front displayed a section of a twenty credit banknote from the show, and the reverse acted as certificate of authenticity, hand signed and numbered by a Futera Platinum big wig. This card is number 27.

The Holly Jumper Promo Card (MP1) is the first of two Promo Cards, and another very rare card limited to 250 in total. The Promo Cards presumably acted as promotional material and proof of concepts, prior to the production of the Preview Card set. The Holly Jumper Promo Card provided a promo concept for the Memorabilia set. This is card number 065.
The Chloë Annett Photoshoot Promo Card (MP2) is the second Promo Card, promo-ing the Chloë Annett Photoshoot set concept. It presumably acted as promotional material and proof of concept, prior to the production of the Preview Card set. For reasons unknown to me, the Chloë Annett Photoshoot promo cards are unnumbered.
