Back when the original Red Dwarf DVDs were being released to the market there was such a thing as newspapers. That's right. Those click-bait pop-up ridden websites featuring such newsworthy articles as "SHOCK My boss' GELF stole my wife" and "Man in Skull Mask ERASED my family!" once used to actually get printed on paper. A waste? Yes. But also a great opportunity for sellers to reach new audiences, and buyers to grab rare free goodies. And that is exactly what happened in 2002 (series I) and 2003 (series II & III), when the respective full series DVD releases were preceded by a promo DVD containing one episode from each. Episodes selected were Future Echoes, Kryten, and The Last Day, and each disc even had some special features.
